CARE INSTRUCTIONS

BAGS & ACCESSORIES

Leather goods and small leather goods are the perfect complement to a unique and audacious silhouette designed and created by Olivier Rousteing. With a contemporary look, they come in a variety of styles and shapes reflecting the heritage of the Maison and combining quality materials with semi-artisanal fabrication. These materials require regular care to preserve the beauty of your bag and small leather goods over time. We recommend taking to heart the following instructions. If you need other specific care advice for your creation, we invite you to consult a specialist.

Protecting your bag:
• Fill your bag/small leather good with tissue paper and put them in its protective pouch. Store in a dry place away from moisture and light.
• Avoid all contact with textiles and materials that can cause the color to bleed. Avoid wearing dark clothes with leather bags or light-colored canvas bags and vice versa.
• If your bag gets wet, dab it with a clean, lint-free cloth and let air dry away from all heat sources.

Taking care of your bag / small leather good:

Jolie Madame Bag

This bag is not made of genuine leather, it is made from polyurethane, a modern material that does not undergo color variation over time and is less fragile than leather.

The following tips will help you take care of it and keep it in perfect condition:

• Avoid direct contact with sunlight, heat and humidity
• In case of contact with water, you can wipe with a clean, dry cloth by dabbing to absorb the water and let it air dry
• In case of stains, dab the area with a soft, light-colored cloth, slightly damp and let dry naturally
• Do not apply leather cream to this bag
• Consult a specialist for repair or return your bag to a Balmain store

Mirror or metallic finished leather

Mirror leathers or leathers with a metallic finish are sensitive to solvents and alcohol which can strip the surface finish of the leather.

These leathers are also delicate and sensitive to abrasion. They can scratch easily.
To care for mirror finished leather:
• Use a little soapy water.
• Rinse with a clean cloth dampened with lukewarm water.
• Let air dry.

To care for metallic finished leather:
• Gently dust and remove dirt with a soft brush.
• Clean using a special metallic leather spray. Do a spot test on a hidden area beforehand to make sure the dye does not come off. Let dry for 30 minutes.

banner-blog-1

Embroidered leather

If your bag has embroidered elements, you need to be careful not to apply care products to the embroidery elements. This could irreversibly alter them.

There is no specific care for embroideries.

If an element falls off and/or needs to be replaced, you can call the store where you bought your item from to have a diagnostic on the possibility of repair.

banner-blog-1

Smooth leather

Regularly use a soft, lint-free cloth with a small amount of colorless polish and shine with a soft cloth. To reduce the appearance of marks on the surface of the leather, rub the leather in a circular motion.

Apply a waterproofing spray to your clean, dry bag before use and repeat if necessary. For the choice of product, you can contact a leather specialist.

To clean stains, dab the area with a clean, damp, lint-free cloth and let dry naturally.

Light-colored leather can acquire a patina appearance and become darker over time.

banner-blog-1

Patent leather

To care for patent leather, use a little soapy water, rinse with a clean cloth dampened with lukewarm water, and let air dry.

During use, this leather tends to retain fingerprints, proceed as indicated above.

By nature, the color of patent leather can bleed onto or absorb the color of the material of another item when put in direct and prolonged contact.

We recommend storing your bag in its protective pouch to avoid this situation.

banner-blog-1

Exotic Leathers

This leather is sensitive to water as it can cause swelling and lifting scales.
For routine maintenance, clean your bag with a soft cloth and apply—in the direction of the scales—a neutral colourless gel designed especially for reptile leathers.

If desired, you can polish it with a chamois cloth.

banner-blog-1

Canvas / satin canvas

To clean the item, use a clean, soft cloth dampened in soapy water, avoiding print areas, especially those bearing the Balmain logo. Rinse with a clean cloth soaked in lukewarm water and let dry away from all heat sources.

Products, such as leather lotions, cleaners, or chemicals, should not be used on canvas or satin items. Using these remedies can lead to stains on the fabric. To know what care product to use or if your creation is stained, we advise you to contact a leather goods specialist, such as a shoemaker.

Limit contact with hard or rough surfaces to avoid premature abrasion of the fabric and alternate your bags to ensure optimal use and longevity.

Avoid all contact with textiles and materials that can cause the color to bleed. Avoid wearing dark clothes with light-colored canvas bags and vice versa.

banner-blog-1

Raffia / Straw

For routine maintenance, brush your bag with a soft-bristled brush.

To remove marks, rub your bag gently (to avoid damaging the fibres) with a slightly damp sponge and some soap, before wiping it immediately with a dry cloth to prevent the raffia from swelling.

banner-blog-1

VELVET PIECE

Velvet is a delicate material despite its warm, sturdy texture.

You can use a soft brush to gently remove dust and restore its smooth finish.

Always double-check the care instructions found on the label inside your item.
If machine washing is recommended, turn your item of clothing inside out to protect the pile and avoid using fabric softener.

Shearling / pony-style calfskin / faux fur

This type of leather can lose its hair with wear if it is too often subject to friction. It can only be cleaned with a dry cloth, lightly rubbing in the direction of the hair.

If your piece is stained, we recommend you contact a leather specialist.

FANCY JEWELRY

Balmain jewelry is created from quality metal and within the demands of design. To preserve, it is advised to handle all pieces with care and delicacy. Please take to heart the following precautions for use and care, this way you can keep your jewelry in perfect condition.

It is best to avoid wearing your jewelry in the following situations:
• When you wash your hands to prevent soap deposits from getting on your jewelry.
• When carrying out activities requiring the use of corrosive products to avoid damaging the tones that adorn your jewelry.
• When playing sports to avoid bumps and scratches.
• It is also best to avoid:
o Exposing your jewelry to strong heat or sun for an extended period: these situations can damage your jewelry irreversibly.
o Bringing your jewelry into contact with perfume/makeup which can generate irreversible stains.

We suggest you store your jewelry in its protective pouch then place it in the box.

Balmain metal jewelry and accessories can be cleaned with a soft cloth.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

READY TO WEAR

Balmain clothes combine impeccable cuts, exceptional fabrics, and meticulous details to give each piece a unique and captivating character, which is why your Balmain creation must be treated with great care.

Compliance with the recommended care instructions located on the label will ensure the longevity of the garment.
To preserve your piece, we recommend you take to heart the following instructions.
If you need further care advice for your garment, we invite you to consult a luxury goods specialist.

LINEN PIECE

Linen cultivation and the weaving process are environmentally friendly. This very hardy plant requires limited irrigation, little fertiliser and few pesticides, all the while absorbing CO2 from the air. Linen is a sustainable, 100% natural fibre that softens with each wash. If washing instructions are provided on the care label, we recommend turning the piece inside out and separating it from light colours to avoid any running.

If hand-washing:
Submerge your item in cold water (30°C maximum) and rub gently for a few minutes. Do not leave your item to soak in the water for too long and avoid wringing the material. Rinse in clean water then leave your piece to dry on a hanger.

If machine-washing:
• Select a gentle cycle with a cold temperature and lower spin setting (600 RPM maximum).
• Removing your linen item from the washing machine as soon as possible and leaving it to dry outside on a hanger.
• Always cool iron your item on the reverse side. We recommend ironing your item when it’s still slightly damp to avoid damaging the fibres.
• Store your Balmain item on a hanger away from light.

banner-blog-1

LEATHER PIECE

Our leather pieces undergo a specific artisanal treatment that gives them unique and exclusive characteristics.
Leather is a natural material that changes over time, creating slight differences in color and appearance that render your piece unique. It requires regular care to preserve its beauty and suppleness.
We recommend that you have your piece cleaned by a leather specialist to avoid contact with textiles and materials that can color bleed. Avoid wearing lightly colored clothes with a dark leather jacket and vice versa.

Protecting your garment:
• Limit prolonged exposure to the sun to prevent drying out and discoloration of the leather.
• Following exposure to water, dry your piece with a dry, non-abrasive cloth.
• Avoid placing your item near a heat source (i.e., hairdryer, radiator, etc.)

Caring for your garment in shearling:
• This type of leather can lose its hair with use if it is too often subjected to friction. It can only be cleaned with a dry cloth, rubbing lightly in the direction of the hair.
• If your piece is stained, we recommend you contact a leather specialist.

banner-blog-1

DENIM PIECE

Your denim item has undergone one or more washes or a specific artisanal treatment that can give it a particular and unique look which will change over time.

The slight imperfections and prematurely aged appearance of the hardware are intentional and not seen as defects as they are an integral part of the style of this model.

If washing is recommended on the care label, we advise you to inside out the piece before putting it in the machine to avoid white marks during the spin cycle.

Between two washes, hang your garment on a hanger to allow the fibers to stretch.

banner-blog-1

WOOL / CASHMERE PIECE

If washing is recommended on the care label, we advise you to inside out the piece then separate the lights to prevent the colors from bleeding.

When handwashing:
• Immerse your garment in cold water (20°C maximum) then gently rub together without stretching the material for a few minutes.
• To avoid deformation and pelting, it is important to not leave your item soaking for too long and not twist the material when wringing it out.
• Rinse in clean water then lay flat to dry.

When machine washing:
• Select a special wool program on cold with a short spin cycle.
• Your item should always be ironed inside out at 110°C maximum.
• Your Balmain article should always be put away flat so that it doesn’t lose its original shape.

banner-blog-1

JACKETS

Our Balmain jackets are made in the purest tradition of French luxury.

It is important to have your garment cleaned by a luxury specialist and to respect the care conditions indicated on the label.
Hardware must be protected before care so that their appearance doesn’t change over time.

Between two washes, you can also relax the material by gently using a little steam.
To ensure an optimal look, your jacket should be hung on a hanger between each wear.

When it is not being worn, we recommend not exposing the piece to the sun and storing it in a garment bag to protect it from light and dust.

banner-blog-1

TWEED PIECE

An iconic fabric with Scottish roots, tweed is woven with different colored filaments to create unique patterns.

Its open structure is sensitive to friction.
Make sure you don't wear abrasive jewelry with this type of material, as this could cause pulled threads.

We recommend having your piece cleaned by a luxury specialist and following the instructions found on its care label.

Storing your item on a hanger between uses will keep it looking its best for longer.

banner-blog-1

SILK PIECE

Silk is a delicate material that deserves to be handled with great care.
If washing is recommended on the care label, we advise you to inside out the piece then separate the light colors to prevent the color from bleeding. All hardware must be protected before care so that their appearance doesn’t change over time, and they don’t damage the material.

When handwashing:
• Immerse your item in cold water (20°C maximum) then gently rub together for a few minutes.
• It is important to not leave your item soaking for too long and to not twist the material when wringing it out. Rinse in clean water. Silk becomes fragile when wet, your garment should be handled with care. Pre-dry flat on a towel to remove excess water before air drying your piece on a hanger.
• We do not recommend any direct exposure to light and we advise you to keep your item away from any heat source.
• To guarantee the longevity of your creation, machine washing is not advised.
• Ironing your garment should always be done inside out at 110°C maximum. It is unadvisable to use steam as it can damage the material. Your Balmain item should be stored on a hanger away from light.

banner-blog-1

VISCOSE PIECE

If washing is recommended on the care label, we advise you to inside out the piece then separate the light colors to prevent the color from bleeding.

Viscose is a delicate material, and all hardware must be protected before care so that their appearance doesn’t change over time, and they don’t damage the material.

When handwashing:
• Immerse your item in cold water (maximum 20°C) then gently rub together for a few minutes.
• Do not leave your item soaking for too long and to not twist the material when wringing it out.
• Rinse in clean water then hang on a hanger to dry.
• To guarantee the longevity of your creation, machine washing is not advised.
• Ironing your garment should always be done inside out at 110°C maximum. You can also relax the material using a little steam.
• Your Balmain item should be stored on a hanger away from light.

banner-blog-1

LACE PIECE

Lace requires careful and thorough upkeep to preserve the quality of its fibers.

Always follow the care instructions found on the label inside your item.

If machine washing is recommended, place the item of clothing inside a mesh laundry bag to avoid snags and pulls when mixing with other garments in your machine.
After washing, pieces made of lightweight lace should be put on a hanger and left to air dry.
Pieces made of heavier lace should be dried flat to avoid weighing down and damaging the fibers.

We suggest storing your lace items on a hanger.
For small items that can be folded, place a sheet of tissue paper between each one to preserve the quality of the fabric.

banner-blog-1

EMBROIDERED PIECE

Your embroidered item is handmade, which gives it a unique appearance and characteristics.
It is a precious piece and deserves to be treated with utmost care.

We recommend having your piece cleaned by a luxury specialist and following the care instructions on the label.
The embroideries are delicate and must be protected from shock and frictions to not alter their appearance.

To ensure an optimal look, your garment should be hung on a hanger between each wear.
When it is not being worn, we recommend not exposing the piece to the sun and storing it in a garment bag to protect it from light and dust.

banner-blog-1

VELVET PIECE

Velvet is a delicate material despite its warm, sturdy texture.

You can use a soft brush to gently remove dust and restore its smooth finish.

Always double-check the care instructions found on the label inside your item.
If machine washing is recommended, turn your item of clothing inside out to protect the pile and avoid using fabric softener.

• To avoid deformations of the material, it is important to not let your item soak for too long and to not twist the material when wringing it out. Rinse in clean water then lay flat to dry.

When machine washing:
• Select a “delicate handwash” program with a short spin cycle.
• Your item should always be ironed inside out at 110° maximum. It is important to avoid any print or embossed areas to not damage them.
• Your Balmain item should be put away flat so that it doesn’t lose its original shape.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

SHOES & SNEAKERS

Balmain shoes are the perfect complement to a unique and bold silhouette signed Olivier Rousteing. With a contemporary look, they come in a variety of styles that range from classic to futuristic and combine quality materials and excellence of design. The materials require regular care to preserve the aesthetic and comfort of your shoes over time. We recommend you take to heart the following instructions. If you need further care advice specific for your creation, we invite you to consult a shoe care specialist.

Protecting your shoes:
Fill your shoes with tissue paper, place them in their protective pouch, then in their box. Store them in a dry place, away from moisture and light.
Avoid all contact with textiles and materials that can cause the colors to bleed. Avoid wearing dark colors with light-colored leather/canvas or vice versa.
If your shoes get wet, dab them with a clean, lint-free cloth and let them air dry away from all heat sources.

Taking care of your shoes:

Patent leather

To care for patent leather, use a little soapy water, rinse with a clean cloth dampened with lukewarm water, and let air dry. To prevent the varnish from cracking or breaking, regularly moisturize your patent leather shoes with milk bought from a specialist.

By nature, the color of patent leather can bleed onto or absorb the color of the material of another item when put in direct and prolonged contact. We strongly recommend storing your shoes in their protective pouch to avoid this situation.

banner-blog-1

Embroidered leather

If your pair of shoes has embroidered elements, you need to be careful not to apply cleaning products or shoe polish to the embroidery elements. This could irreversibly alter them.

There is no specific care for embroideries. If an element falls off and/or needs to be replaced, you can call the store where you bought them from to have a diagnostic on the possibility of repair.

banner-blog-1

Smooth leather

Like all natural materials, even the most luxurious of leather can age over time and with wear. It needs to be cared for to maintain its optimal condition.

To care for your shoes in smooth leather, it is advised to polish them regularly. Before polishing, dust your shoes with a chamois and clean them with a damp cloth. Remember to also clean the sole and heel and remove the laces. Choose a polish in the color closest to your shoes. When in doubt, opt for a colorless shoe polish cream. After nourishing the leather, you can shine your shoes with a shine bush.

A specific treatment, such as a soap or cleansing milk for leather, will restore sheen and shine to your shoes and erase superficial signs of wear. Apply a dab of product on a cloth and make small circular movements on the shoe. Then, let your shoes dry.

In all cases, and more in particular, if your shoe is stained, consult a leather specialist for advice on the choice of products and care instructions.

For routine maintenance, clean your bag with a soft cloth and apply—in the direction of the scales—a neutral colourless gel designed especially for reptile leathers.

Mirror or metallic finished leather

Mirror leathers or leathers with a metallic finish are sensitive to solvents and alcohol which can strip the surface finish of the leather. These leathers are delicate and sensitive to abrasion. They can scratch easily. Due to its finish, mirror/metallic leather will crack at the bend of the foot while walking. This is inevitable and proof that it is genuine leather.

Always double-check the care instructions found on the label inside your item.
If machine washing is recommended, turn your item of clothing inside out to protect the pile and avoid using fabric softener.

Nubuck / velvet goatskin

Nubuck and velvet goatskin are leathers that absorb liquids and can easily stain.

Apply a waterproofing spray to your clean, dry shoes before wearing and repeat at each wear. For the choice of product, you can consult a leather specialist.

By nature, this leather can bleed onto lighter colored items. We advise you to avoid all contact with lightly colored clothing.

If your shoes are dirty, a soft bristle brush will allow you to remove all the dust. To keep their original look, the leather can be brushed with a crepe brush. It is advisable to rub gently so as not to damage the grain of the leather.

banner-blog-1

SNEAKERS

Our sneakers are made from special materials that must be treated with care. Synthetic materials, natural leather, gluing techniques, foams, and seams have been studied with attention to meet the best quality criteria and offer you the highest degree of satisfaction. Color variations and slight imperfections do not affect the high quality of the materials and make your shoes unique. Regular care will preserve your shoes’ characteristics and ensure their long life.

We recommend that you observe the following precautions:
• Do not machine wash your shoes.
• Do not bleach or use household cleaning products on your shoes.
• Do not dry them near a radiator or in direct sunlight. Heat can deform the shoes and alter their integrity. Air dry them by filling them with white paper towels to remove moisture.

To clean them, you can:
• Remove mud, dirt, and or debris once your shoes are dry using a soft brush.
• Clean the sole with a non-abrasive sponge using soap and water.
• If the upper of your shoe is made of fabric, mesh, or canvas, use a sponge soaked in soapy water and rub gently.
• If the upper of your shoe is in leather or nubuck, only use care products intended specifically for leather and nubuck and follow the product instructions.
Finally, store your item in its protective pouch and in a dry place when not in use.

CUIR LISSE
